What is Skin Cancer and Who is at Risk?
Descripción:
Dr Dev Shah a Consultant Dermatologist and Cutaneous Mohs Surgeon at BMI Bishops Wood Hospital looks at skin cancer as a condition and examines who is at risk. Skin cancer is not only a disease that only affects the elderly; in fact more than two 15-34 year olds in the UK each day are diagnosed with malignant melanoma. In the UK over 100,000 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed and over 10,000 of these will be malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of the disease. Whilst we are getting better at spotting the signs of skin cancer, there is clearly a long way to go. There are three types of skin cancer: malignant melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Cases of melanoma are rising faster than any other type of deadly cancer.
