KHP visited a hernia masterclass for surgical trainees at the St Thomas' Hospital Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre. Run by Mr Husam Ebied, a consultant surgeon and undergraduate teaching lead general surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS FT, the inguinal hernia training day is a hands-on study he developed a few years ago aimed at junior surgical trainees. The masterclass utilises anatomical models, which allow trainees to simulate the repair of inguinal hernia repairs in a controlled environment. This type of training fosters a safer learning environment, minimises risks, and enhances the surgeon's proficiency before performing procedures on actual patients.
