Blackouts are very common and many people will experience them at least once during their lifetime. In the majority of cases these are simple faints (also known as “vasovagals” or “reflex syncope”). These can be triggered by hot weather or if you are dehydrated. They are usually harmless and can be managed with lifestyle changes. In some cases it can be due to an underlying heart problem so it is important to have an evaluation if you have had blackouts.
