Professor John D Somauroo is a leading consultant cardiologist and sports cardiologist practising across various locations in the north-west region, including the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and the Countess of Chester NHS Trust, with his private practice based at the Nuffield Health Chester Grosvenor Hospital. Professor Somauroo has a specialist interest in inherited heart conditions, cardiomyopathy, athletic heart, dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiography, chest pain, valvular heart disease, and coronary artery disease. Professor Samauroo offers specialist sports and exercise cardiology clinics, along with clinics specialised in the investigation and treatment of inherited cardiac conditions and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. 

In addition to his clinical practice, Professor Somauroo has a strong interest in research and has a large database screening athletes across a wide range of sports, including rugby league, football, ice hockey, martial arts, and ultra-endurance running, among many others. Professor Somauroo has been involved in the creation of international cardiac screening programmes, working with the Hong Kong College of Cardiology and the Saudi Football Association.
