Professor Philip Turner is a leading othopaedic surgeon who specialises in knee surgery. From his practice at the Spire Manchester Hospital, Professor Turner performs a range of surgical procedures to treat patients with sports knee injuries such as cartilage injury and ligament injury, as well as patients with arthritis of the knee and knee deformity. Professor Turner has performed over 1,400 knee replacements and 2,500 keyhole operations in the last 10 years. He frequently works with Premiership and League football teams and elite athletes.

Professor Turner originally qualified in medicine in 1978 before completing specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in the North West of England. In 1982 he was appointed fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Since 1990 he has held the position of consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, where he has established a nationally-recognised knee unit.

As Chairman of the BOA Training Standards Committee and former Head of the School of Surgery in the North Western Deanery, Professor Turner is committed to the training of new orthopaedic surgeons. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Sports and Excercise Medicine in 2008 and a Silver Clinical Excellence Award in 2015.
