Mr Samir Massoud is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in shoulder surgery. He currently practises privately at The Harborne Hospital.

After completing his medical degree at Alexandria University Medical School, Egypt, in 1986, Mr Massoud relocated to the UK in 1989 to further his training in general surgical specialities. He achieved the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1993, marking a significant milestone in his surgical career. Mr Massoud joined the Nottingham Higher Surgical Orthopaedic Training Scheme in 1995 and went on to obtain the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 1999. To further refine his expertise in shoulder surgery, he undertook a prestigious fellowship at the Reading Shoulder Unit in 2000 and later continued advanced training at the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit.

His comprehensive expertise encompasses arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive procedures, and joint replacement, with a particular focus on managing sports injuries of the knee and shoulder. Since 2003, Mr Massoud has held the role of consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the arthroscopy unit of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Massoud is actively involved in medical education. He teaches both basic surgical trainees and advanced orthopaedic trainees on the Birmingham Training Scheme, regularly lectures at national and international conferences on shoulder surgery, and contributes to the field through his publications and reviews of orthopaedic research.
