How does laser vaginal rejuvenation work?

Laser vaginal rejuvenation is a non-surgical procedure that uses laser energy to tighten and improve the function of the vaginal muscles. It is also sometimes referred to as laser vaginal tightening, laser vaginal rejuvenation or non-surgical tightening.

The procedure typically takes 7-10 minutes to perform and is performed under topical anaesthesia.

During the procedure, the laser is inserted into the vagina and used to stimulate the production of collagen, which helps to tighten and strengthen the vaginal muscles.

What results can patients expect? How long do they last?

Patients can expect to see improved muscle tone, tighter vaginal muscles, and increased sensitivity in the vaginal area after laser vaginal rejuvenation. The results of the procedure typically last for 12-15 months. However, this can vary depending on the individual patient.

Is it painful?

Laser vaginal rejuvenation is generally not considered to be a painful procedure. Some patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, but in general, the procedure is pain free.

How many courses of treatment are required?

The number of treatments required depends on a number of factors. It will depend on the type of laser used, the indications and the medical condition of the patient. For example, the CO2 laser course typically requires three treatments, which are administered 6 weeks apart. However, for other types of lasers used, the interval may vary. 

Is laser vaginal rejuvenation suitable for everyone?

Laser vaginal rejuvenation is usually suitable for most cases.  However, for some patients it is not suitable. The procedure is not suitable for women who are pregnant or nursing, or patients who are on blood thinning or have active infection.

Before having laser vaginal rejuvenation, the doctor will take a full medical history of the patient. This is carried out in order to assess the suitability of the patient and to determine if laser vaginal rejuvenation is a safe and appropriate treatment option for this particular patient.
