Top Doctors recently spoke to highly revered and distinguished consultant ENT surgeon, Mr Florian Bast, who, here in one of our latest articles, provides us with an all-you-need-to-know guide on Morpheus8 treatment.

What is Morpheus8 treatment?

Morpheus8 is a device that combines micro-needling with fractional radiofrequency to treat skin conditions.

How long does Morpheus8 last?

The treatment takes between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. Topical anesthetic will be placed on the face for at least 30 minutes before the treatment.

After treatment, patients typically suffer from local skin redness (erythema), swelling (oedema), and the sensation of heat that can last anywhere between one and seven days. It is normal to have tiny pinpoint scabs appear that can be masked 24 hours after treatment with makeup. Visible results are typically achieved between four to 14 days after treatment.

How painful is Morpheus8?

With the appropriate topical anaesthetic and enough time to let it work, the anaesthetic allows the patient to have a pain-free experience. If needed, patients can take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as paracetamol or ibuprofen within the first 24 hours after the treatment.

Is Morpheus8 better than micro-needling?

When it comes to Morpheus8, the working spectrum is broader and more aggressive (in a positive way) when compared to micro-needling. Just like laser and LED treatments, radiofrequency uses energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production, but the heat energy is electrical rather than light-based.

The fractional radiofrequency can be delivered on different power and depths of the skin and dermis (up to of 4mm and deeper than any other device on the market), which stimulates collagen production and induces skin rejuvenation without damaging the top layer. Morpheus8 is also the first and only full-body subdermal adipose remodelling device (SARD). Despite being applied externally, it offers the deepest fractional technology, allowing the surgeon to target deep layers of a patient’s skin.

Does Morpheus8 really work?

Several clinical studies have shown the positive effect that Morpheus8 has on collagen and elastin production. Moreover, Morpheus8 has been shown to effectively treat fine, moderate, and deep wrinkles. Not only that, but it also improves the skin tone and texture, and reduces scars, including acne scarring.
