Alex understood precisely what I wanted and did an amazing job on me working with another surgeon on a reconstructive surgery. On the outside, it looks much better than I could have ever hoped for, but it's the solid internal repairs that were the most important. My rehab physio, who had seen a few of these, felt it was 'very well done'. I am just glad it was Alex who did my surgery.

I had the apronectomy due to extreme weight loss which caused a large amount of excess skin that wouldn’t tone due the elasticity in the skin being lost. I was referred to Mr Woollard who performed the surgery and even one week after surgery I was happy with the results, the scar was clean and I already have a 100% improvement from what I had before even with the scar. The scar is healing well on week 3 and it is clear that the surgery was performed to the highest standard with great results 3 weeks in.

Mr Woollard made a challenging experience very manageable for me. He explained my surgical procedure clearly and took time to answer my questions . He immediately put my mind at ease because he acknowledged the anxiety I was having around my diagnosis and surgery. He knew that playing guitar was important to me, he ensured and encouraged me that this was something I could achieve again with his physio team post surgery, and he took a great interest in being updated on my progress. He came to see me prior to surgery and his focus was entirely on my well-being. I noted he had informed the whole team that I was anxious and likely needed extra support which was then given without my needing to ask. I feel confident that I received the best possible care under Mr Woollard. Ward staff, the Macmillan nurse and physio team all speak incredibly highly of him.

Following a diagnosis and initial treatment for Dedifferentiated Chondrosarcoma in my left arm, in January 2020 I underwent the amputation of my left arm and shoulder. Although my recovery went very well, I had an issue with my large breasts as I could no longer wear a bra and my left breast was considerably larger than the right due to lymphoedema. After having bespoke bras made and finding it increasingly difficult and uncomfortable to exercise and to dress as well as having problems fitting a prosthetic shoulder, my orthopaedic consultant referred me to Mr Woollard for a consultation. At my first consultation Mr Woollard instantly put me at ease and carefully explained what could be done. In subsequent consultations he explained the procedure and after care answering any questions before booking my bilateral breast reduction. Gillian Rolfe was superb, responding quickly and efficiently to any queries and made communications very easy. I felt confident and comfortable going into my surgery and was extremely well looked after. The result is amazing, I am thrilled with my small breasts. It has transformed my life in so many ways. I am looking forward to being symmetrical again and finally having a prosthetic shoulder fitted. Mr Woollard is a kind empathetic and gifted Consultant Plastic Surgeon who I would not hesitate to recommend.

I was diagnosed with Sacral Chordoma and required an excision and S4-Coccyx sacrectomy. Mr Woollard was in charge of the reconstruction with muscle and skin flap and wound closure. In the pre surgery appointment he clearly explained the procedure and what to expect. He patiently answered all of my questions (before, during and after!) and showed genuine empathy with my situation throughout. He did an amazing job and I am impressed with the end result of my surgery (magic hands!). He is extremely professional and brilliant at what he does, will never rush things and will always make sure your recovery is well managed. His kind, human and friendly approach is what makes him even greater! Mr. Woolllard and his secretary Gillian keep their word and are always quick to action communications and queries which makes a big difference to patients who are already stressed enough with health issues. I feel truly grateful and would definitely recommend his care to anyone.

I was diagnosed with a suspected Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) on my neck and was told that I would need surgery which would leave a slight scar. I was referred to Mr Woollard who greeted me kindly and reassured me that the procedure would take only a few minutes. He carefully explained exactly what he proposed to do. I was given a local anaesthetic and felt no pain at any point, either during or after surgery. The BCC was confirmed at a follow-up appointment. Mr Woollard assured me that it had been fully excised and was unlikely to cause any future problems. He gave me detailed instructions as to how to care for the almost invisible scar. I would like to thank Mr Woollard for his skill and professionalism, and also Gillian Rolfe, the Practive Manager, who was helpful in keeping in close touch regarding appointments. I am grateful to have had such a kind and caring approach throughout.

A great job from Mr Woollard, who was clear, kind and authoritative during preparation, post-operation and recovery. I was felt as if I was in very safe hands: the somewhat complex pre-op process was made to feel straightforward; the operation was a complete success; my recovery was easier than I expected and now, a few weeks later, I’m moreless healed, with a very neat scar, which I imagine will fade to moreless nothing. In short: the best possible outcome to a nasty and debilitating problem. Thanks!

Having, for many months, seemingly being passed from one medical expert to another I finally met Mr Alex Woollard and, all of a sudden, things started to happen. I can't thank Mr Woollard and his wonderful team - especially Gillian his secretary, his anaesthetist, Dr Oma Dulan and his specialist nurses Vanessa and Kim for the outstanding care and attention they have given me. From the first day I met Mr Woollard, I found him not only to be a true professional at the top of his game but, at the same time, caring, polite and significantly well respected and liked by all of those who cared for me during my convalescence in hospital and as an outpatient. His sense of humour also helped to provide a breath of fresh air throughout the process. My treatment involved a free flap with a full thickness skin graft which, to be honest, when Mr Woollard described what was involved, worried me more than a little. However, he quickly put my mind at ease and by the time the operation came around, I was completely confident that I was in the best of hands - which has turned out completely to be the case. I cannot recommend Mr Woollard and his team highly enough.

Prior to an operation to have a soft tissue sarcoma removed from my forearm I was referred to Mr Woollard for reconstructive surgery. I had a meeting with him to discuss the procedure and what was required post surgery and he very patiently went though all the details and answered my questions fully. I felt completely confident in agreeing to his recommendations. The surgery was undertaken at the Lister in Chelsea. Mr Woollard and his team were outstanding, from the pre-op meetings with him and his anaesthetist to my discharge from hospital four days later. He visited me a few times during that period and even came in on the Sunday to prepare my discharge. The reconstruction was a complete success. A flap 7" x 6" was taken from my outer thigh to reconstruct my arm and a further graft was taken from my inner thigh to cover the donor site. The operation took place on 21st April 2021 and here we are on the 21st August and the flap has settled very well and is rapidly 'disappearing", the donor site has a healed and requires only regular moisturising and the graft site has a fresh layer of skin and is looking very much like the surrounding area. It is testimony to Mr Woollard's skills that I have had so many doctors, nurses, radiotherapists, etc saying what a wonderful job he has done and quite a few have said they have never seen a flap that large. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alex Woollard in the future.

Alex was recomended to perform plastic surgery on my face after the removal of a large visible tumour on my lip. From our intial meeting i was given clear advice on the types of surgery that would be available to me, what each type of surgery entailed and what the likely outcomes were. Alex was very concious of the potential disfigurement and showed a kind and caring apporach approach at all times. He insisted on seeing me well in advance of the surgery which gave me time to digest and prepare for what lay ahead. On the day of the surgery Alex again was on hand to let me know what now had to be done as a result of the removal of the tumour and simultaneously gave me confidence in how the procedure would work and what would happen to me in the coming hours. I enjoyed great care from Alex in the weeks after the surgery, he always greeted me with a smile and a friendly hello during the appointments for removing sticthes and my final procedures carried out in his clinic. Any questions i had were answered with nothing being considered too small or meneal. Alex's calm, considered and compassionate approach to my care holistically helped me through a very tough few weeks.

I’m only 5 foot 1 and after having 2 large babies I was left with scarred, stretched, wrinkly skin on my tummy. I was also an E-cup breast and after breastfeeding 2 babies was left with sagging G-cup breasts with one breast noticeably larger than the other. Mr Woollard performed a breast reduction and abdominoplasty surgeries. I’m blown away by the results! Even after only 2 weeks the vast improvement is obvious. He managed to remove all damaged tummy skin with only a hip to hip scar and I suffered no loss in sensation on my nipples (which was one of the risks described). His stitching is neat and the cuts have healed really well. He was calm and reassuring and made me feel extremely safe before the surgery. He answered all my crazy questions both before and after surgery. He has given me my confidence back at a time in my life when I desperately need it and for that I am so grateful!

I had treatment for breast cancer which included a mastectomy at Chase Farm hospital. It got rid of the cancer (fingers crossed) but left me with one size G breast and flat with puckering the other side. I was so lucky that the NHS was able to give me a reconstruction and a reduction after all my breast cancer treatment had finished. I was even luckier to have been in the fantastic hands of Mr Alex Woollard. My initial surgery to reconstruct my breast using my stomach fat and skin, was meant to be 7-8 hours. It ended up at 12 hours as my blood vessels kept collapsing. He didn't give up and 12 hours (with 3 attempts) later I was finally taken out of the operating theatre. Complications followed (I won't go into detail it's just one of those things with such radical surgery) but all along Mr Woollard was supportive, kind and I never felt that I wasn't in the best and most skilled of hands. His patient manner is extremely empathetic and he is always gentle and explains things thoroughly without being patronising. I am now - several surgeries later - the proud owner of a great pair of size C breasts which are really well balanced and it's no exaggeration to say that this has changed my life, both psychologically and physically. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My fears were unwarranted, from the very first meeting he put my mind at rest. A total professional in his field. He discussed every aspect of my treatment in great detail.. I saw Mr Woollard today for a check up following my double mastectomy and reconstruction in June and my nipple reconstruction in November. Over the last couple of years, he has seen me on a regular basis and has provided me with reassurance and top notch care and information. In the run up to, and especially on the morning of my mastectomy, I was so anxious and he was a calming, reassuring presence. He has done an amazing job of the reconstruction and was there when I came round after the operation talking me through what happens next and to check on me. For the nipple reconstruction I only had local anaesthetic but he was again very informative and made me feel welcome and comfortable in the operating room, I even got to choose the music playlist! Today we discussed next steps, tattoos, and as always I have come away with all the info I need. I am very pleased with how good my new breasts look. I was not too bothered about having the nipples reconstructed but I am glad I did as it has had a really good effect. I would like to thank Mr Woollard and his team for providing me with first rate care. I can not recommend him highly enough.
