From 1st meeting on Zoom I regained my confidence which had been depleted by another surgeon’s attitude. Mr Lau is so “open” and genuinely interested in the patient’s opinion and gave reassuring information, before I had the chance to go through my a,b, c of nit-picking questions! Every single thing was explained and “covered”. A pleasure to have a professional who doesn’t treat you like an ignoramus, but actually seems to find interest in the questions you ask. Not dismissing you out of hand. Patients are people and Mr Lau treats you as an individual not a “case” number. I’m never intimidated by professionals but find some very arrogant. He is the polar opposite of that . A kind, professional, talented highly educated individual who treats others with the same respect.

Mr Lau is a great communicator and a very pleasant man, I could not have wished for a better consultant, as well as his technical ability he was able to put me at ease when explaining the procedure, and I felt no anxiety, I have complete trust in him. I am recovering as he predicted and I am extremely happy with the outcome of my surgery. Thank you Mr Lau.

Lau is an exceptional surgeon, he goes over and above to ensure you understand the procedure, he has a very happy disposition, he makes you feel confident with his surgery plans and relaxed , he is happy to answer any questions, and goes over and above to call you out of hours with any concerns you may have. Mr Lau was very approachable and friendly and I was confident that he was very knowledgeable about my situation and the options open to me. I have been so impressed by Kelvin Lau at Barts Hospital Thorax Centre. Having had two previous operations deferred due to health complications, this time I was naturally rather anxious. At our consultation prior to admission Kelvin Lau completely put me at ease. He listened to my concerns and views and explained the treatment options for my metastatic lung nodule thoroughly and in great detail. After our discussions I had no doubt that I could put my trust in this doctor. We agreed that I would undergo Navigation Bronchoscopy with biopsy and insertion of a fudicial for proposed Cyberknife treatment. The night before my operation, Kelvin Lau took the time to come to see me to reassure and go over the details of procedure and aftercare. His friendly and confident approach was much appreciated. The procedure went well and I was home later that day. It is obvious that as well as being a highly skilled professional at the top of his game Kelvin Lau has a warm and compassionate nature and is very willing to engage with his patients. Thank you.
