Description:
More than 6000 total ankle replacements are now registered on the UK National Joint Registry and ankle replacement is gaining in popularity as an alternative to ankle fusion for ankle arthritis. Can I do sports after an ankle replacement? The good news is that most patients are able to return to sport after an ankle replacement and go on long walks, hiking, cycling, dancing, bowling and Golf. Some patients return to playing tennis and to skiing after an ankle replacement. Certain contact sports like running and football, although possible, are not sensible after an ankle replacement as they can lead to earlier wear and loosening of the implant.
