Dr Emmanuel Androulakis

Professional statement

Dr Emmanuel Androulakis is an internationally recognised Consultant Cardiologist and an Academic (Senior Lecturer and Adj. Professor) renowned in the UK (London) and International Postgraduate Programmes. He is a specialist in genetic (familial) heart muscle conditions (Cardiomyopathy), Sports Cardiology, Preventive Cardiology and Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging. He strives to apply non-invasive advanced heart diagnostic imaging procedures for his patients such as heart MRI, heart CT, advanced echocardiography as well as stress testing.

Following his PhD in genetics and 2 MSc degrees (Sports Cardiology and Health Economics & Management), his extensive expertise has been honed through years of dedicated practice and comprehensive training in the largest London centres by world leaders in the field. This rigorous programme encompassed fellowships in inherited cardiac conditions and cardiomyopathy as well as advanced cardiac multimodality imaging. Dr Androulakis earned internationally recognised accreditations in cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and advanced echocardiography (perioperative transoesophageal and transthoracic), demonstrating his commitment to excellence.

He is a board member of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) and works collaboratively with the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC). He has been elected as one of the EACVI Leaders of Tomorrow Programme for 2022-2024 and has been elected to serve the ‘Scientific Initiative Committee’ of EACVI since 2022. He holds the esteemed position of honorary Senior Lecturer at the renowned MSc in Sports Cardiology of St George’s University London where he co-leads the Module ‘Practice in Cardiovascular Evaluation’ and he is an Adjunct Professor in the International Programme in Medicine of the University of Crete, Greece, where he also co-leads the MSc in ‘Exercise and Exercise-based Rehabilitation in patients with cardiovascular disease’.

He is a cardiology consultant at King’s College Hospital, London. He has worked as consultant for several years to the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, screening more than 30,000 young individuals per year for heart disease. Dr Androulakis is currently credited with more than 115 peer-reviewed medical publications. He regularly presents as an expert speaker at national and international conferences.
