Mr John Stammers is a highly distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive expertise in the treatment of hip and knee conditions. His areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee arthritis, the investigation of painful joint replacements, and the revision of failed hip and knee prostheses.
After graduating from the Royal Free and University College London Medical School, he remained in London as a junior doctor before undertaking specialist registrar training on the North East Thames Royal London Rotation, where he honed his skills in high-volume hip and knee replacements at world-class institutions. During this period, he completed rotations at renowned centres such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore, the Royal London, and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals.
In addition, Mr Stammers completed two prestigious arthroplasty fellowships: one at Barts Elective Orthopaedic Hospital and another at the renowned Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, becoming the first UK trainee to complete this highly sought-after operative fellowship. At the Rothman Institute, he worked alongside world leaders in orthopaedic surgery, refining cutting-edge techniques for hip and knee surgeries. He is currently part of the Complex Arthroplasty team at St George's and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, where he specialises in managing challenging cases, including revisions of joint replacements and complex infections.
