Mr Tarek Abdel-Aziz is a highly respected Consultant Thyroid and Endocrine surgeon based in London. He is renowned for his expertise in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery, particularly, thyroid cancer surgery, reoperative thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and minimally invasive adrenal surgery.
Mr Abdel-Aziz qualified in medicine and surgery with distinction from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2001 before obtaining a highly-sought after place on a revered surgical residency program. He additionally gained a master’s degree in surgery before relocating to the UK to complete an esteemed fellowship in endocrine surgery at Oxford University Hospitals where he gained invaluable experience in the full range of endocrine procedures. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009 and was awarded a doctorate degree in surgery at University College London in 2012 which included extensive research into stem cells and organ function. He was appointed as an endocrine surgery consultant in 2014 at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is currently one of the UK’s highest volume thyroid surgeons. Mr Abdel-Aziz sees private patients at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and Portland Place Outpatient Centre. He is the current clinical lead for thyroid cancer for North Central London Cancer Alliance.
Additional to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Abdel-Aziz is also a renowned educator and is an honorary associate professor at University College London and is the surgical lead for undergraduate students at University College London. In 2020, he became a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In recognition of his dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients, Mr Abdel-Aziz received a Top Quality Patient Care Award from his NHS base in 2023.
Mr Abdel-Aziz became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2016 and is also a member of various other esteemed bodies, including the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (BAETS) and the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons (ESES).
He additionally continues to maintain an active interest in research and his numerous academic contributions to the endocrinology and surgical fields are published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented his findings and shared his expertise at national and international meetings of colleagues. Furthermore, his joint research into thyroid cancer has been recognised with a prize from the British Journal of Surgery (May 2024).

From my first consultation Mr Tarek Abdel-Aziz was amazing. He explained everything , so simply, but in detail. The recovery from procedure itself, was exactly as he described. His manner and overall handling of my case was just simply impeccable. All I can say is

Mr Tarek Abdel Aziz is truly fantastic. When I learned about my condition his credentials, reviews and reputation assured me he was the only person I wanted to perform the surgery. All interactions, from start to finish were excellent. Very clear communication, very calming and reassuring, uses data and facts to explain the risk/benefit analysis. I could not recommend highly enough. I’m unable to articulate just how grateful and thankful I am to him and for his care.

Mr Abdel Aziz is very pleasant and personable and easy to communicate with. He has a friendly and highly professional manner and made me feel very comfortable and confident to be in his care. My surgery went very smoothly and the scar is minimal. He explained everything very clearly.

I'd highly recommend Dr Abdel-Aziz, who completely exceeded my expectations. I found him to be extremely professional, compassionate and highly experienced.
From the very beginning, Dr Abdel-Aziz was very clear and thorough in explaining everything to me in a calm and reassuring manner addressing all of the initial concerns I had regarding the surgery and recovery.
I experienced perioperative anaphylaxis during general anesthesia and the initial surgery had to be aborted. Whilst it was a very difficult time for me and members of my family, Dr Abdel-Aziz gave us all a lot of hope, he was comforting, supportive and caring throughout the whole process. I have him, Dr Kariem and all the team who assisted in taking care of me; whilst at Cleveland Clinic recovering from the severe allergy reaction, to thank for their quick reaction which proved life saving for me. Dr Abdel-Aziz was comforting and demonstrated a lot of empathy to my husband and family members who at the time were very worried.
Post allergy testing results and working towards setting a new surgery date, I found Dr Abdel-Aziz (and Dr Kariem) to be very flexible and accommodating; which I greatly appreciated. They went above and beyond their duties to ensure I received the best care possible the second time around. I truly felt cared for by Dr Abdel-Aziz, he is
without doubt one of the best Doctors I've come across. I am thankful for the successful surgery he carried out the second time around, I will forever be grateful to him for all his help.
A special thank you also to Dr Abdel-Aziz's Medical Secretary, Ivana who I found to be very professional and helpful.

Dr Tarek Abdel-Aziz was recommended to me as I was told that he is a very experienced and knowledgeable man. Everything that you’ll read about him is true! I had a nodule on my thyroid and I had a Hemithyroidectomy 1 month ago. From the start until the end Dr Tarek Abdel- Aziz guided me through the steps on blood tests, ultrasounds and whatever else that was required. He is such a gentle and patient doctor. I had complete trust in his diagnosis and advice for everything. He went above and beyond as I believe he does with all of his patients. It is honestly thanks to him that I genuinely felt calm and comfortable throughout the whole journey. I flew from overseas for him to perform my surgery because I genuinely felt that he was te best doctor for this. I am so glad that I did. You only have to meet him to know that you are in the safest of hands. He is a truly skillful surgeon. I have the most gentle and soft scar which is fading smoothly.
