Mr Ahmad Elsahn is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmologist, with over 20 years of experience, currently practising in Nottingham and Birmingham. He offers a wide range of services and treatments for various eye conditions, including glaucoma and cataract surgery, laser eye and lens replacement surgery, and treatment for dry eye. Additionally, he provides implantable contact lenses.  
 
Mr Elsahn undertook his medical studies at Alexandria University in Egypt, graduating with an MBBCh in 2002. He earned the certificate of laser and refractive surgery from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2020 and was awarded a PhD in corneal infections from the University of Southampton in 2017.
 
His expertise spans specialised fellowship training in glaucoma, cornea, and refractive surgery, focusing on intricate procedures such as complex glaucoma and anterior segment surgery, as well as addressing corneal and external eye diseases. Renowned for his skill, colleagues often entrust him with complex cataract cases, ensuring optimal and safe patient care, resulting in many achieving excellent spectacle independence post-surgery and experiencing stabilised glaucoma with minimal medication.
 
Engaging in extensive laboratory and clinical research, Mr Elsahn has spearheaded numerous local and international multi-centre clinical trials. His scientific contributions have been showcased at prestigious national and international conferences and published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Ophthalmology and holds an editorial role in the ophthalmology section of Frontiers in Medicine.
 
Demonstrating a passion for medical education, Mr Elsahn holds a post-graduate certificate in higher education from the University of Nottingham and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has mentored several students pursuing bachelors degrees in medical sciences, earning recognition with best project awards. Currently, he co-leads the undergraduate ophthalmology teaching programme for medical students within his Trust and has pioneered the development of blended learning modules for the University of Nottingham. Additionally, he serves as a visiting senior lecturer at Aston University, shaping and delivering the professional certificate in glaucoma programme.
