Mr Ali Noorani is an esteemed consultant orthopaedic surgeon based at a number of locations across London. He specialises in upper limb surgery such as shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, frozen shoulder, shoulder dislocation and instability, and rotator cuff injuries.
Mr Noorani has a particular focus on complex sports injuries, and has treated countless elite sports people, such as Premier League footballers, basketball players, professional cyclists, boxers, and mixed martial arts competitors. He has been the UK team doctor for the NBA, the NFL, and at the Rugby World Cup in 2015.
Alongside his work with sports people, Mr Noorani also regularly works with A-list celebrities, royalty, and instagram influencers, and is a trusted name in the movie industry.
Having qualified from the Imperial College School of Medicine (London) in 2000, Mr Noorani went on to complete his trauma and orthopaedic training at the Royal London Hospital, along with spending time with the Shoulder and Elbow Service and the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. He then undertook specialist training on the Upper Limb Fellowship Programme at world-renowned The Royal Liverpool Hospital, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009.
Mr Noorani is the founder of a number of different companies, such as The Orthopaedic Specialists, The Regenerative Clinic, and The Harley Street Specialty Hospital, and continues to serve as as Medical Director and Director of Global Strategy for the three companies. He is a member of the education board of the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER), and is a founding member of the Royal London Orthopaedic and Trauma Society and the Barts Orthopaedic Fund.
Mr Noorani treats patients with the primary objective of offering an accurate assessment and diagnosis, and adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to treating upper limb problems, with only 20% of his patients going on to require surgery. He has worked innovatively on streamlining the patient journey, introducing a one-stop clinic for patient assessment, radiological investigations, pre-admission, and scheduling can all be done within 24 hours.
He takes a thorough approach to rehabilitation, and if surgery is necessary, he uses minimally invasive techniques to ensure the shortest recovery times possible.
