Mr Anastasios Giamouriadis is a distinguished consultant neurosurgeon with expertise in brain and spinal surgery based in Aberdeen. His areas of expertise include brain tumours, back pain, neck pain, as well as minimally invasive (keyhole) surgeries for the brain, spine, peripheral nerves, and skull base.
With over 15 years’ experience, Mr Giamouriadis consults privately at Albyn Hospital. Since 2019, he also practises at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and he is notably the lead minimally invasive skull base and pituitary surgeon at the North of Scotland Brain and Spine Centre. He has performed over 2,000 neurosurgical procedures.
Mr Giamouriadis earned his medical degree from The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then obtained an MD in Applied Military Medicine, as well as esteemed fellowship to The Royal College of Surgeons, before going on to accomplish three prestigious fellowships. This included a fellowship in minimally invasive skull base and endoscopic neurosurgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, in addition to two fellowships in neuro-oncology and skull base and pituitary surgery at King’s College Hospital.
Furthermore, Mr Giamouriadis is currently the undergraduate lead for Extended Reality Technologies and a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He is also a prominent figure in clinical research, and holds the role of co-primary investigator for studies on BASICS, spectroscopy MRI in paediatric tumours, and RESCUE-ASDH. Additionally, Mr Giamouriadis is the author of one of the most widely-published neurosurgical handbooks globally.
