Professional statement
Dr Beryl De Souza is a highly experienced plastic surgeon based in London. She specialises in scars and scar revision, with particular expertise in keloid scars and additionally in aesthetic surgery.
Dr De Souza completed both a degree in biochemistry from Chelsea College, University of London and a masters of philosophy in nerve regeneration at the Royal College of Surgeons, University of London before going on to study medicine. She qualified in 1992 from St Bartholomew’s Medical School, University of London and then trained in plastic surgery in London. Currently, she sees patients in private practice at the London Dermatology Centre.
Dr De Souza is an extremely active collaborator in the medical community and has interests in medical politics and improving patient care standards. She served as honorary secretary for the Medical Women's Federation for ten years and was also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England Women in Surgery committee.
Dr De Souza is also an esteemed medical educator and currently holds positions at both St George's University School of Medicine, Grenada and at Imperial College, London as associate professor of surgery, assisstant associate dean of students and honorary senior lecturer in plastic surgery respectively. She has worked for M and K Update for over ten years to provide a popular minor surgery course for general practitioners and nurse practitioners. Dr De Souza has also been an invited patron for the British Association of Skin Camouflage since 2014.
