Miss Bhawana Purwar is a highly qualified consultant gynaecologist and sub-specialist urogynaecologist at University of Derby and Burton Hospital NHS Trust. She specialises in urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, urinary tract infection and hysterectomy.
Having completed her education at King George Medical University. She underwent specialised training in gynaecology in the West Midlands, with a focus on urogynecology. Her expertise was further developed during a research fellowship in Urogynaecology at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust. Following this, she completed a three-year subspecialist training in Urogynaecology at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, and holds a postgraduate certificate in gynaecology ultrasound.
In her current role, she leads the Urogynaecology MDT and chairs the Gynaecology guideline committee. Additionally, she is a member of the audit committee of the British Society of Urogynaecology, showcasing her commitment to industry standards.
