Mr Chadwan Al Yaghchi is a highly innovative and respected consultant in ear, nose, and throat surgery, with extensive expertise and experience, based in London. He specialises in adult and paediatric laryngology, focusing on conditions affecting the voice box. His practice encompasses a wide range of throat disorders, including airway stenosis (windpipe narrowing), voice disorders, swallowing difficulties in both adults and children and obstructive sleep apnoea. He also has a particular interest in voice feminisation surgery.
Mr Al Yaghchi received advanced surgical training through the London North Thames regional rotation, working at some of the UK’s most prestigious teaching hospitals, such as Charing Cross Hospital, University College London Hospital, and Royal London Hospital.
An accomplished academic, Mr Al Yaghchi holds a PhD in Molecular Oncology from Queen Mary University of London, where he investigated innovative treatments for head and neck cancer using oncolytic viruses as immunotherapy. He actively leads clinical research in voice, airway, and swallowing disorders and is a founding member of the British Laryngological Association, where he serves as Associate Treasurer. Additionally, he is a past Vice President of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Laryngology and Rhinology Section.
In his adult NHS practice, Mr Al Yaghchi works at the National Centre for Airway Reconstruction, based at Charing Cross Hospital within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Throughout his career, Mr Al Yaghchi developed a keen interest in transgender healthcare. He introduced several gender-affirming voice surgerical procedures to the UK, including a modified version of the Wendler Glottoplasty technique, which has since become the preferred approach for voice feminisation. Through his pioneering efforts in gender-affirming surgery, Mr Al Yaghchi has helped many trans women achieve a voice that aligns more closely with their gender identity.
