Dr Emma Shawkat is a leading consultant obstetrician and sub-specialist in fetal and maternal medicine based in Cheshire and London. Her areas of expertise include diabetes, renal disease, complex deliveries including caesarean sections, as well as detailed anatomy scans and complex invasive procedures such as intrauterine transfusions, amniocentesis, and chorionic villus sampling. Dr Shawkat consults privately at The Birth Company Cheshire and The Portland Hospital.

Dr Shawkat qualified with an MBChB from the University of Manchester. She then completed her training in obstetrics and gynaecology on the prestigious North West Deanery, before going on to accomplish sub-specialist training in maternal and fetal medicine as well. Dr Shawkat, who also holds a PGCert in Medical Education, was notably awarded an MD for her clinical research on hypertension in pregnancy during her training.
