Upon returning to his homeland, Damascus, Mr Fadi Kherdaji established the Eye and Ear Surgical Hospital in Damascus, Syria. In this role, he assumed the position of chief surgeon, specialising in retinal, corneal, and refractive conditions, thus becoming a key figure in the advancement of eye care in the region.
In 2012, he returned to the UK, becoming a consultant surgeon in primary, cornea, and retina conditions at Cheltenham General Hospital. He initiated a specialised refractive surgical unit in Gloucestershire, with refractive surgery performed in London.
In more recent years, Mr Fadi Kherdaji co-founded Gloucestershire Newmedica in collaboration with colleagues Mr Adam Ross, Mr Nigel Kirkpatrick, and Carl Hall. Today, he continues to work in partnership with his colleagues to strengthen and expand the services offered, with locations in Swindon and Gloucester.
With over 10,000 cataract surgeries and a decade of experience, Mr Kherdaji is a respected cataract surgeon. His expertise in refractive surgery, cataracts, and corneal conditions make him a prominent figure in the UK's eye care community.

I had lens replacement surgery one week ago with Fadi Kherdaji. The process was extremely smooth. The surgery itself was painless and the care I received was first class. During the operation they asked me for any music requests, I chose “Billy Joel”, by the time we were 4 songs in the whole thing was over. Amazing. On my 5 day check up I think we were all surprised at how well my eyes had healed and how I could read whatever he put in front of me. It exceeded my expectations. I cannot recommend Fadi enough. If you’re feeling nervous he will put you at ease with his friendly manner. Lastly I cannot forget Lian, his PA, who I am sure is responsible for making the whole process run as smoothly as it does and was so helpful on my short but very enjoyable journey. To sum up, don’t think about it anymore just do it, it really will change your life (and your features as you don’t have to squint).

Dr Kherdaji was fantastic from my first appointment to my operation and follow up consultation. I felt in good hands. Lian his PA was so friendly and helpful throughout. I wish I had done it years ago, I had both eyes done together with no pain at all and great results.
