Dr Francesca Pugliese is a distinguished consultant cardiologist (cardiac CT) based in London. Included in her areas of expertise are coronary and cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular hybrid imaging PET/CT techniques. Notably, Dr Pugliese performs over 2,000 cardiac CT diagnostic tests annually and has interpreted more than 15,000 procedures throughout her career.
Dr Pugliese consults privately at Cleveland Clinic London. With over 25 years’ experience, she also practises for Barts Health NHS Trust and previously held roles at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, the cardiology group of the Medical Research Council Clinical Sciences Centre, and the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Dr Pugliese originally qualified from the Università degli Studi di Genova. She then undertook clinical training in imaging, before going on to complete higher specialist training in Sweden, the Netherlands, and the UK. Dr Pugliese received her PhD in 2008 from the Thoraxcentre/Erasmus MC University Medical Centre Rotterdam for her investigation into CT of the coronary arteries.
Furthermore, Dr Pugliese has been an associate professor at Queen Mary University of London since 2016. She is also a member of the European Society of Cardiology and the Nucleus of the Working Group, and is an executive committee member of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging. Additionally, Dr Pugliese contributes her expertise to NICE Diagnostic Assessment Programme, helping to shape guidelines in cardiovascular imaging.
