Professional statement
Professor Gareth Evans is a professor of medical genetics and cancer epidemiology at The University of Manchester. He currently practices in various Manchester hospitals, and provides his private practice at The Christie Private Care unit.
Professor Evans has a national and international reputation for his research on cancer genetics, with a particular focus on breast cancer. He is currently clinical leader for the NICE Familial Breast Cancer Guideline Development Group. In addition, he has developed a nation-wide training program for clinicians, nurses and genetic counsellors in establishing a system for risk assessment and counselling for breast cancer.
Professor Evans has published more than 700 peer-reviewed publications, and in more than 200 he is the senior author. He has also published a book on familial cancer.
