Mr John Scadden is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon on the Isle of Wight, practising at the Mottistone Suite of St Mary's Hospital. He specialises in surgery of the upper limbs, shoulders, and hands, and sports injuries.
Mr Scadden graduated from the top medical school in South Africa, the University of Cape Town, and undertook his medical training there. He then went on to do his orthopaedic training in the Wessex region of the UK. He completed two fellowships at the Sports Institute in Perth, Australia, one in hand and shoulder, and the other in sports injury, emphasising his interest in orthopaedics. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for trauma and orthopaedics.
Since joining St Mary's Hospital in 2006, Mr Scadden, has developed a hand service for the Isle of Wight, expanded the arthroscopic shoulder surgery, and has started a regular sports injuries clinic. He aims to provide excellent, thorough care for the people on the Isle of Wight.
