Mr Juan Agustin Soler Fernandez is a highly distinguished consultant orthopaedic hip and knee surgeon based in Wirral. His areas of expertise include hip replacement, knee replacement, partial knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, avascular necrosis of the hip (osteonecrosis), as well as general and complex trauma of the lower limb. Mr Soler Fernandez, who has over 25 years’ experience, consults privately at Spire Murrayfield Hospital Wirral. Additionally, he serves as the long bones metastatic lead and the clinical audit and governance lead at Gwynedd Hospital, where he has also held a consultant post since 2020. Prior to this, Mr Soler Fernandez took up a locum consultant position at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and orthopaedic surgery posts at Lister Hospital and Luton and Dunstable University Hospitals in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Mr Soler Fernandez holds the esteemed FRCS (Tr&Orth) and MRCS (Eng.) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, alongside an LMS from the University of Salamanca, Spain. He undertook his basic surgical training in Kent before going on to accomplish higher specialist training in London. Exceptionally, Mr Soler Fernandez completed the prestigious fellowship in hip and knee primary and complex joint replacement and lower limb reconstruction at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Soler Fernandez’s has undertaken significant research at University College London Hospital focusing on hip and knee conditions, which has resulted in conference presentations and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, he also holds editorial roles at both the Jacobs Journal of Orthopaedics and Rheumatology and the Peertechz Journal of Orthopaedics and Rheumatology, positions he has held since 2015.
