Mr Karan Jolly is a consultant ENT surgeon specialising in nose, sinus, and minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery, as well as facial plastic surgery at The Harborne Hospital. He also holds a substantive NHS consultant position at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust.
Mr Jolly graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2011, continuing his higher surgical training in the West Midlands. After completing his ENT training, he was selected for a prestigious fellowship in advanced rhinology, sinus, and minimally invasive skull base surgery at the renowned University of British Columbia, Vancouver General Hospital, and St. Paul’s Sinus Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Accredited by both the American Rhinological Society and the North American Skull Base Society, this fellowship enhanced his expertise in diagnosing and managing complex inflammatory, benign, and malignant sinus, nose, and skull base conditions.
During his training, he sought additional observerships with world-leading facial plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills, California, and completed the British Rhinological Society Advanced Rhinology Fellowship programme. Mr Jolly has expertise in managing inflammatory sinonasal diseases, including complex revision sinus surgery and novel biologic therapies, minimally invasive endoscopic septal surgery, benign and malignant skull base pathology, and functional nasal surgery.
He collaborates closely with Neurosurgical and Ophthalmology colleagues to manage complex skull base and orbital pathologies endoscopically through the nose. Mr Jolly has a strong interest in research and academia, having published over 100 research items, including more than 30 book chapters, and co-edited three books. He has completed a PhD in Anterior Skull Base Surgery and Reconstruction.
He presents his work and research at national and international ENT conferences, earning several awards and prizes, including the Royal College of Surgeons’ inaugural Sir Cecil Wakley Medal for best research publication. He remains dedicated to providing high-quality care for his patients and consistently strives to deliver the best possible outcomes.
