Dr Laura-Ann McGill is a distinguished consultant cardiologist based in London. Her areas of expertise include heart failure, cardiorenal syndrome, and advanced imaging heart techniques such as transthoracic echocardiography and cardiovascular MRI and CT scans.
With over 25 years’ experience, Dr McGill consults privately at London Bridge Hospital and at The Cardiac Clinic. Since 2019, she holds an NHS consultant position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and, additionally, she also contributes her expertise as a member of the cardiology council at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Dr McGill originally qualified from the University of Glasgow, obtaining an MBChB and a BSc in Clinical Neuroscience. She undertook her general medical training at Barts Health and University College London Hospitals, before going on to complete higher specialty cardiology training within the North East Thames region. This training period included 2 years of training on the prestigious Pan London Heart Failure Rotation.
Notably, Dr McGill also holds esteemed membership to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as well as transthoracic accreditation from the British Society of Echocardiography. She was awarded an PhD from Imperial College London in 2017 for her investigation on new cardiovascular magnetic resonance phenotyping techniques for assessing the myocardium.
Dr McGill also has a strong commitment to medical education and regularly mentors junior doctors and medical students. She is a published researcher with an extensive portfolio of studies on cardiac imaging and heart failure.
