Mr Mark Davies is a highly experienced consultant colorectal and general surgeon based in Swansea and Carmarthenshire. He specialises in colorectal cancer, hernias, haemorrhoids, and is also renowned for his expertise in colonoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and proctology, including fissure, faecal incontinence and anal fistula. Mr Davies also specialises in THD/Halo procedures.
Mr Davies gained a bachelor’s degree before qualifying in medicine from the University of London in 1995. In 2005, he obtained a Master of Surgery, awarded for his thesis on the development and progression of colorectal cancer. He went on to complete training colorectal and general surgery at various esteemed institutions in London, Cardiff and Swansea, and was appointed as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006. Mr Davies also undertook a specialist fellowship in pelvic surgery at Manchester’s Christie Hospital. Since 2007, he has served as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon with the Swansea Bay University Health Board. Mr Davies sees private patients at the Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea and the Werndale Hospital in Carmarthen.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Davies has held a number of senior positions, currently serving as secretary of the Welsh Surgical Society and as a medical advisor to the Healthcare Management Trust Charity. He has also made significant contributions to education as an associate professor at Swansea University since 2013 and member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Davies also acts a reviewer for leading medical journals, including the British Journal of Surgery, Colorectal Disease journal, and the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, the British Hernia Society, and the Pelvex International Collaborative.
