Professor Mehul T Dattani is a leading paediatric endocrinologist currently based at several respected centres in London, including Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), University College London Hospitals (UCLH), and the Institute of Child Health (ICH). He has extensive experience in all areas of paediatric and adolescent encocrinology, with a special interest in hypopituitarism, growth disorders, and disorders of sex development.
Professor Dattani trained in London, with post-doctoral experience at the Medical Research Council, where he identified the first gene to be connected to septo-optic dysplasia. He is currently Head of Paediatric Endocrinology at GOSH, UCLH and ICH, Chair for the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, and Chair-elect of the Programme Organising Committee of the ESPE (European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology). He is also a Clinical and Academic Lead, with research interest in hypothalamo-pituitary disorders, tumour, and hypothalamic obesity. His research has led to the identification of mutations, with his work being recognised both on an international and international level.
