Professor Michael Burch is a leading paediatric cardiologist based in London. He is Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), where he has worked since 2001. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant paediatric cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, while serving as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Oxford University.
He specialises in congenital heart disease, including diagnosing the condition in foetuses, and is recognised internationally for his work in paediatric heart failure and transplantation.
A graduate of the University of Leeds, Professor Burch is now Professor of Paediatric Cardiology at University College London (UCL), teaching both PhD and MD students. His research has been widely published (over 130 scientific papers), and he holds several influential positions, including Secretary of the British Congenital Cardiovascular Association, and Hospital Inspector for the Care Quality Commission.
