Mr Michael Hart is a leading consultant neurosurgeon in London who specialises in deep brain stimulation (DBS), spinal cord stimulation and spinal surgery alongside the treatment of complex neurological conditions, including trigeminal neuralgia, slipped disc and sciatica. He privately practises at New Victoria Hospital and his NHS base is St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Hart completed his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in 2006, followed by specialist training in neurosurgery. He was then awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2017, where his work contributed to the advancement of connectomics and advanced brain imaging. He also has a Fellowship in Surgical Neurology from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd).
In addition to general neurosurgery, Mr Hart has sub-specialist interests in functional neurosurgery, neuromodulation, and spinal surgery.
Mr Hart is actively involved in the academic community, holding a senior lecturer position at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where his research is based on the latest MRI advances. He is dedicated to educating the next generation of neurosurgeons and is the current education lead for neurosurgery in South West London.
