Mr Nicholas Burfitt is a leading interventional radiologist who specialises in endovascular aneurysm repair, peripheral arterial disease and fenestrated endovascular repair of complex aortic aneurysms. Mr Burfitt also has an area of interest in deep venous stenting with intravascular ultrasound, peripheral arterial angioplasty and stenting and complex aortic aneurysm endovascular repair.
He studied a biochemistry degree at Imperial College London, and then went on to study medicine and graduated from Cambridge University in 1997. He completed his surgical training at St George's Hospital and did his radiology training at St Mary's Hospital. He also obtained an interventional radiology fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital where he then became a consultant in 2008.
He has received worldwide training in London, Lisbon and Japan. He is now currently developing musculoskeletal embolization (MSKE) for chronic tendon and joint pain having travelled to Japan recently to train in this new technique.
Mr Burfitt currently leads the Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) service at the Imperial College and carried out the first ever robotic PAE in the United Kingdom.
