Dr Oluwagbenga Odeyemi is a leading consultant psychiatrist at the Priory Wellbeing Centre in Birmingham who is an expert in conditions such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, depression and bipolar disorder. Dr Odeyemi specialises in treating people of working age.
Dr Odeyemi graduated from medical school in Nigeria in 1998. Since 2001 he has worked in the field of psychiatry and completed his postgraduate psychiatric training with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and University of Nottingham.
He achieved his member of Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) status in 2007. Dr Odeyemi obtained his certificate of completion of training (CCT) from the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) in 2011.
Dr Odeyemi is the Clinical Lead for the psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) for young adults aged 18 to 25 years old at the Priory Hospital Woodbourne in Birmingham. He also looks after patients in the general adult acute ward for young adults.
Dr Odeyemi is a member of the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU), contributing to the development and improvements of standards within PICUs. He is part of seven committees looking into the continuous improvement of standards within the PICU, underpinned by the consistent search for least restrictive practice and patient-centre care.
Dr Odeyemi was previously a peer-reviewer for the Royal College of Psychiatric’s Electroconvulsive Therapy Accrediation Service.
