Mr Paul O'Flynn is a highly esteemed consultant ENT/head and neck surgeon based in London who specialises in tonsillectomy, tracheostomy and flexible nasendoscopy procedures, as well as laryngeal and parotid gland surgery, salivary gland surgery, and nasal and sinus surgery. As a specialist, Mr O'Flynn is also renowned for his proficiency in the treatment of conditions such as ear infections, deafness, head and neck cancer, neck lumps including thyroid swellings, glue ear, and rhinitis. He has over 30 years of consultant-level experience.
Mr O'Flynn, who consults privately at The Wellington Hospital, qualified from University of London in 1982. He trained at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and Derby Royal Infirmary, and Charing Cross Hospital before going on to undertake his higher specialist ENT training at the prestigious Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital. Mr O'Flynn was transferred to University College London Hospital in 2005, and has since held a number of senior positions, including lead ENT head and neck surgeon, chair of the head and neck multidisciplinary team, and chair of the North London Cancer Network.
As a leading figure in his specialty, Mr O'Flynn has twice been elected to the council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, first in 2012 and second in 2018. He was also the President of the Laryngology and Rhinology section at the Royal Society of Medicine from 2013 to 2014. He is the chair of the JCIE Board in Otolaryngology, an intercollegiate examiner for the FRCS in Otolaryngology, and an honorary professor at Deenath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre in India.
