Mr Philip Wykes is a leading consultant upper limb surgeon who specialises in disorders of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. From his clinic at BMI The Beaumont Hospital, Bolton, Mr Wykes can consult on and treat a number of conditions including shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulder, Tennis and Golfer’s elbow, ulnar nerve problems, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and Dupuytren’s contracture.
Mr Wykes qualified in medicine in 1987 before undergoing basic surgical training in the North West and spending time at the trauma unit at Johannesburg Hospital, South Africa. He holds a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons and an Intercollegiate Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery. Mr Wykes has a particular clinical interest in advanced surgical techniques for the shoulder, and has visited world experts in shoulder arthroscopy in France and North America. He now teaches shoulder arthoscopy to surgeons in training, and is the author of numerous chapters in orthopaedic text books.
