Mr Qutayba Almerie

Mr Qutayba Almerie is a highly skilled consultant general surgeon, with over 15 years of experience, based in Manchester. He specialises in bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery, gallbladder surgery, inguinal hernia, abdominal wall hernia, and weight loss procedures.

Mr Almerie undertook his initial medical studies at University of Damascus, qualifying in 2008. He also holds fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS General Surgery) in England and a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Edinburgh.
 
After qualifying with his MD, Mr Almerie received comprehensive postgraduate surgical training in general, laparoscopic (keyhole), and upper gastrointestinal surgery across various hospitals in the Yorkshire region. Upon completion of his surgical training, he pursued a prestigious two-year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery at Phoenix Health, under the mentorship of Professor David Kerrigan, the former president of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society. In his current role, Mr Almerie offers a wide range of private bariatric procedures at Phoenix Health, including gastric balloons, gastric bands, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric bypass.
 
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Almerie is deeply involved in medical research. He has published over 40 medical articles and has presented his findings at national and international conferences. He also serves as a regular reviewer for multiple medical journals, including the Obesity Surgery journal, the official publication of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
