Mr Qutayba Almerie is a highly skilled Consultant Bariatric, Upper Gastrointestinal & General Surgeon based in Manchester Royal Infirmary (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).
 
Qutayba is also the Programme Director of the Royal College of Surgeons accredited Phoenix Health Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Fellowship.
 
He specialises in bariatric (weight loss) surgery and weight loss management, acid reflux and hiatal hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery and abdominal wall hernia surgery.
 
After graduating from medical school in the top of his class, Qutayba received extensive postgraduate training in general, laparoscopic (keyhole), and upper gastrointestinal surgery in the Yorkshire region leading to the completion of his speciality training in Upper Gastrointestinal & General Surgery (CCT).
 
Qutayba then pursued further specialisation in bariatric (weight loss) surgery. He undertook the prestigious Phoenix Health Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery. During this 2-year fellowship, he was trained on all aspects of bariatric surgery under the mentorship of the internationally renowned Professor David Kerrigan; the former president of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).

The focus of this highly experience multi-disciplinary team is to provide personalised care tailored to the need of each of his valued patients aiming to deliver the best results to them.
 
2.   Ramsay Health, Oaklands Hospital
At the Oaklands Hospital, Qutayba offers a wide range of keyhole (laparoscopic) surgical interventions to treat acid reflux and hiatus hernia, gallstones, and abdominal wall hernias. He also offers a wide range of upper gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures (OGD).
 
Qutayba’s current role both at the NHS and Phoenix Health extends to training new surgeons in all aspects of weight loss and upper gastrointestinal surgery. A role Qutayba continues to enjoy playing to ensure the continuous influx of new talented surgeons to this field.

Position: Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, Manchester University

Qutayba is deeply involved in medical research. He has published over 50 medical articles and co-authored few book chapters in the field of Obesity and weight loss surgery. He has also presented his research findings at multiple national and international conferences (ResearchGate).
