Dr Richard Sylvester is an extremely well-regarded and experienced consultant neurologist who specialises in sports traumatology, whiplash and concussion, sports injuries, sports physical examination, ultrasound, traumatic brain injuries, and sports surgery. He is currently practising at The Princess Grace Hospital.
Dr Sylvester, who also currently provides the neurology assessment and input for the concussion clinics at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health, successfully completed his specialist training in London after obtaining a BM BCH at Oxford University in 1999. Following this, he would go on to achieve a PhD in neurological sciences from the University College London in 2009.
Dr Sylvester's main clinical interests include neurorehabilitation after traumatic brain injury and young onset cognitive disorders. He is a member of the Association of British Neurologists traumatic brain injury advisory group and a founder and executive member of the UCL Partners Centre for Neurorehabilitation. Notably, Dr Sylvester is on the English Football Association’s expert concussion advisory panel and a particular highlight of his career was when he was hired as a concussion expert for World Rugby at the 2016 Rugby World Cup.
