Mr Samuel Ford is a distinguished consultant surgeon based in Birmingham who specialises in general, upper gastrointestinal, and sarcoma surgery. His areas of expertise include hiatal hernia, acid reflux, gallstones, abdominal wall hernia, lipoma, sarcoma, and neuroendocrine tumours. Mr Ford consults privately at The Harborne Hospital in addition to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Mr Ford qualified with an MBChB degree from the University of Birmingham. He undertook training in general and upper GI surgery in South Wales before going on to complete two prestigious advanced sarcoma fellowships, at Istituto Tumori in Milan and at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Notably, Mr Ford went on to pursue a PhD in Cancer Biology as a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham. He holds esteemed fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and also partakes actively in the neuroendocrine tumour expert advisory group and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer board for sarcoma.
Furthermore, Mr Ford has a strong interest in medical education and clinical research. He serves as an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers on the management of sarcoma, contributing to the development of global consensus statements on the treatment of sarcomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumours. Mr Ford is also involved in initiating international randomised trials.
