Mr Thomas Jenyon is a leading consultant ophthalmologist who specialises in cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange and multifocal lenses and astigmatism correction, alongside corneal transplant, dry eye and pterygium surgery. He privately practices at Paragon Clinic and Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital while his NHS base is Royal Shrewsbury Hospital NHS Trust.
Mr Jenyon has an MBBS from University College London, where he qualified with distinction, and also has a BSc, MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians and a FRCOphth from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Furthermore he has a PGCMed.
Mr Jenyon, whose cataract expertise includes complex cases, patients with previous laser refractive surgery, astigmatism and the use of premium lenses to reduce spectacle dependence, undertook his specialist training within the West Midlands.
His research into refractive outcomes has been recognised with national and international prizes, and published in various peer reviewed journals. He is also a teacher, teaching cataract and corneal surgery to the next generation of corneal surgeons at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. He has been awarded for his contribution to medical education in the West Midlands, winning the Recognising Excellence in Medical Education award twice.
Mr Jenyon, who prides himself in taking time to listen to patient needs and guiding them through the different choices available to them, whether it's cataract, lens or laser surgery, is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
