Mr Roe is a well-respected, highly experienced Consultant Colorectal and General surgeon working in Gloucestershire. He offers a comprehensive lower GI and general surgical service, including hernia surgery, lower GI endoscopy and a range of outpatient, day case and inpatient services to manage conditions affecting the small bowel, colon and rectum. He practises privately at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital and Winfield Hospital, while his NHS base is at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge (MB BChir MA), Mr Roe undertook basic surgical training in Wessex followed by higher training in the South West region. He earned his MD from the University of Birmingham following two years of dedicated research at the Cancer Research UK Institute, where he investigated the role of iron in cancer development. He worked as a Consultant at Southmead Hospital in Bristol before taking up his permanent role in Gloucestershire in 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, with a recognised subspecialty qualification in colo-rectal surgery.
Mr Roe regularly performs elective and emergency surgical procedures, managing complex colo-rectal cases (diverticular disease, Crohn’s disease, colitis and cancer) as well as benign proctological conditions (haemorrhoids, anal fissures and fistulae, pilonidal disease and rectal prolapse) and general surgical problems (hernias, lipomas and cysts). Mr Roe is an expert laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon and advocates a laparoscopic approach whenever appropriate.
Mr Roe is a member of several professional organisations, including the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACGBI), the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) and the Pelvic Floor Society (PFS).
