Mr Tom Routledge is a distinguished senior consultant thoracic surgeon based in London. He is renowned for his expertise in various areas of thoracic surgery, including chest wall tumours, lung cancer, hyperhidrosis, pneumothorax, fractured ribs, and robotic surgery.
After completing an MA in medical sciences from the University of Cambridge, Mr Routledge went on to qualify in medicine from the University of Oxford in 1997. He attained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001 and later became a fellow of cardiothoracic surgery, achieving a gold medal at each stage. Mr Routledge has also completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination, and additionally undertook an esteemed senior fellowship in thoracic surgery at the revered Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. He has been appointed as a consultant thoracic surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2007, where he also currently serves as chief of thoracic surgery. Mr Routledge sees private patients at HCA London Bridge Hospital, where he is also co-lead of the lung cancer multidisciplinary team.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Routledge has published a number of academic papers which appear in peer-reviewed journals. He is a board member in thoracic Surgery with the Royal Society of Medicine. Moreover, Mr Routledge is a dedicated educator, holding positions as an honorary lecturer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King's College School of Medicine, as well as an education director and examiner in thoracic surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons. In recognition of his expertise and dedication, he has received a level 5 Local Clinical Excellence Award.
