Miss Yusrah Shweikh is a passionate consultant ophthalmologist and ophthalmological surgeon practising at the Sussex Eye Hospital. She specialises in glaucoma treatment and has completed two surgical glaucoma subspecialist fellowships at the esteemed Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. In 2021, she was awarded a Fulbright Association Visiting Scholar Award issued by Harvard University, Massachusetts, for her work on enhancing glaucoma risk prediction using genetic analysis and machine learning.
Miss Shweikh is the co-founder and director of an award-winning, child-led national campaign, Eye Heroes, which aims to prevent avoidable blindness by raising awareness about sight loss in schools, demonstrating her dedication to eye health.
In addition to her clinical work and national campaign, Miss Shweikh is a researcher with several published papers to her name. She enjoys volunteer work in West Africa, where she leads training courses on ophthalmological surgery.
