Mr Amit Kapoor is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, specialising in the upper limbs (shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand) and with particular expertise in arthroscopic surgery for the shoulder, shoulder replacements, carpal tunnel correction, Dupuytren’s contracture, and rotator cuff repair. He practices privately at The Lancaster Hospital and Spire Fylde Coast Hospital.
Mr Kapoor graduated with his MBBS in 2000 from the Maharaja Sayjirao University of Baroda, India. He undertook post-exam training in the UK at North West institutions such as the Royal Preston Hospital, where he developed his skills in trauma shoulder surgery. He completed a fellowship with the Wrightington Hospital where he experienced the full range of upper limb surgical procedures under the supervision of leaders in the field. Mr Kapoor, furthermore, has an MSc in trauma surgery, a diploma in sports & exercise medicine, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Kapoor has been published in medical journals and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He runs and lectures on a national arthroscopic surgery course alongside teaching and examining those undertaking the Royal College of Surgeons fellowship. He was previously a member of the Medical Relief Unit, having supported and provided relief for patients during the Gujarat earthquake of 2001 and the Darjeeling ropeway crash of 2003.
