Mr Tom Leslie is a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Oxfordshire, Milton Keynes and London, who specialises in prostate cancer, robotic prostatectomy, high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), and vasectomy, alongside the treatment of urological cancers, benign prostate enlargement performing TURP, Aquablation & Rezūm therapy.
He privately practises at GenesisCare Oxford, GenesisCare Milton Keynes, Nuffield Health - The Manor Hospital in Oxford, The Saxon Clinic, and The Princess Grace Hospital in London. His NHS bases are Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Leslie has a particular interest in robotic and minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer, including robotic prostatectomy, HIFU, and brachytherapy. He is also highly experienced in the diagnosis of prostate cancer using advanced targeted and template biopsy techniques. His general urology practice includes managing benign prostate enlargement, haematuria (blood in the urine), urinary tract infections and performing vasectomies.
After completing his medical degree and basic surgical training at the University of Bristol and Bristol Royal Infirmary, Mr Leslie moved to Oxford in 2004 to undertake specialist training in urology. During this time, he earned a D.Phil in Surgery at the University of Oxford and held a Clinical Lecturer post in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. Under the mentorship of Professor Freddie Hamdy at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, he gained advanced expertise in robotic surgery. In 2013, Mr Leslie was appointed as a consultant in Oxford and Milton Keynes, combining clinical practice with academic and leadership roles.
As an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford, Mr Leslie is actively involved in research and education. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is the principal investigator for several NIHR-funded clinical trials, including PART, TRANSLATE, PROMOTE, ATLANTA, ADD-Aspirin, and Medical Detection Dogs. He has also served as a senior associate tutor in the Department for Continuing Education at the University of Oxford and is currently a member of the Court of Examiners for the FRCS (Urol) examination.
Mr Leslie holds several leadership positions in the field of urology. He is the Chair of the Urology Clinical Advisory Group for the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance and the LCRN Cancer Subspecialty Lead in Urology for the Thames Valley and South Midlands Cancer Network. He also serves on the NCRI Prostate Group, the national steering group for prostate cancer research in the UK. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Leslie is a patron of the Milton Keynes Prostate Cancer Support Group, a trustee of UCARE (an Oxfordshire-based urology charity), and a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion.
