Male aged 68. After being advised the waiting list via NHS (Surrey area) for my large hernia repair was 12 months (Sept 2024), I decided to investigate going private (self-funded). Researching on the internet, Prof Frampton was my preferred choice. After my 1st appointment with him at which it was decided the best surgery to go for, I was able to obtain prices for my prompt surgery : open bilateral inguinal hernia repair (T2010), using mesh, dissolvable stitches & glue. I had fixed price options regarding the private hospitals he worked at & I chose the New Victoria Hospital, Kingston-upon-Thames which was the most cost effective for me. I was a day patient, operated on a Saturday. All very efficient, excellent & helpful nursing staff, nice food, own private room (not in day unit as anticipated). He recommended for recovery (after 3 days) to walk daily around 4-5 miles. My bruising was reduced after 2 weeks, all gone by 3rd week. Dissolvable stitches & glue all gone by 4th week.
