Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective therapy to manage Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Dr. Raman Sakhuja, a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Professor of Psychiatry in Cardiff (United Kingdom), provides insights into this topic in this video. He begins by drawing an analogical comparison of the brain to that of an efficient filing system. Further, he mentions how traumatic memories often are not processed completely and thus don’t get stored properly, leading to an emotional Distress when these memories come back. EMDR facilitates processing of the trauma memories, aiming not to erase but to effectively process and integrate them into the life experiences such that they don’t trigger an emotional reaction. The technique involves side-to-side eye movement, tapping, and/or use of other sensory modalities. This succinct overview given by Dr. Sakhuja emphasizes the importance of seeking guidance from a qualified clinician for those navigating the complexities of PTSD and underscores EMDR's role in reshaping traumatic memories for emotional well-being. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To watch more such videos go to this playlist link :- • PTSD | Dr. Raman Sakhuja --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like and Share the video if you find it useful.
