Mr Gurudatt Sisodia is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee and hip and surgery. He is based in south Manchester and has private practices at The Spire Manchester Hospital (Didsbury), The Alexandra Hospital (Cheadle), The Spire Regency Hospital (Macclesfield) and The Highfield Hospital (north Manchester). Mr Sisodia provides expertise in reconstructive and repair surgery for sports knee injuries, in addition to modern surgical techniques for treating cases of arthritis of the knee and hip.
Mr Sisodia performs arthroscopic (keyhole) reconstructive surgery for cartilage, ligament and meniscal injuries of the knee. He has interests in the treatment of anterior knee pain and patella instability. He performs partial and total knee replacements as well as total hip replacement surgery.
In addition to his private practices, he has a full-time NHS practice is based at The Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Sisodia excels at dealing with a wide range of patient conditions in his field – from complex degenerative conditions to professional athletes with knee injuries. He qualified from the University of Leeds in 2005 and undertook his orthopaedic training on the Yorkshire Specialist Training Rotation, which culminated in his obtaining the FRCS (Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014.
His subspecialist training was acquired from highly regarded Knee Fellowships with internationally renowned knee surgeons such as Professor Nick London in Harrogate and BOA past president, Mr Tim Wilton. He completed a Medical Engineering Masters degree with distinction, which helped him to gain an in-depth knowledge of the necessary materials and biomaterials used in orthopaedic surgery. Mr Sisodia gained further surgical experience and skills via a prestigious international year-long Fellowship under the expert tutelage of Dr Jeff Gollish at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital.
Mr Sisodia maintains a keen interest in teaching and training. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Manchester's Medical School and is the teaching lead for medical students passing through the orthopaedic rotation at Wythenshawe Hospital. Previously Mr Sisodia has held clinical tutor and anatomy demonstrator roles, as well as undertaking examiner roles for specialist registrars taking regional exams in the UK and in Canada. Additionally his current clinical supervisor roles mean that Mr Sisodia regularly teaches senior medical students and junior doctors.
