Miss Rahila Zakir

Miss Rahila Zakir is a consultant ophthalmologist and lifestyle medicine physician based in London and Cambridge, who specialises in cataracts, retina surgery and retinal detachment alongside Botox©, lifestyle medicine and medical aesthetics. She privately practices at The London Clinic, for Imperial Private Healthcare and at The Western Eye Hospital. Miss Zakir is also an NHS consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at The Western Eye Hospital. 

Miss Zakir combines her knowledge and experience of healthcare standards, medicine and surgical care with her love of helping people look great and feel well. She expertly manages cataracts and various retinal conditions via treatment, surgery and offers second opinions in retinal surgery management options in her practice in London. 

Miss Zakir graduated from Aga Khan University with an MBBS and underwent higher training at well-known centres including Moorfields Eye Hospital, Western Eye Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital. Following this, she went on to develop an impressive career in various hospitals. 

Miss Zakir is highly trained in aesthetic medicine, too, undertaking detailed, professional-standard courses at leading aesthetic medicine training provider, Harley Academy. She was awarded a Level 7 certificate in Injectables in Aesthetic Medicine in 2020 and completed studies in cosmetic dermatology there. 

Further to her impressive academic and career achievements, Miss Zakir is involved in research, education and training. She is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. She trains doctors at all levels, including those who are becoming vitreoretinal specialists at the Western Eye Hospital. 

She is published in various peer-reviewed journals, a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and an active member of the European VitreoRetinal Society (EVRS), International Society of Ocular Trauma (ISOT) and the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) alongside the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons (BEAVRS).
